Drones

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is known as a Drone. ICAO classifies unmanned aircraft into two types under Circular 328 AN/190.
-          1)  Autonomous aircraft: currently considered unsuitable for regulation due to legal and liability issues

-        2)  Remotely piloted aircraft: subject to civil regulation under ICAO and under the relevant national aviation authority

Utility of these vehicles can be seen both in military and civil applications, such as policing, monitoring, hobby, finding objects, delivering light weight objects like pizza, snacks etc.Few pizza centers in Bombay are using drones to delivery purpose and has succeed. Companies in USA, UK, Australia and Canada are mainly using drones for their business purpose and formulating new laws to govern the use of such drones for commercial purpose.

Drones are interesting been used in many purpose even by artist, photography and cinematography. But permission or license is required to use drones in restricted areas. Recently one person from New Zealand used drones in prohibited areas in another country and was in trouble for releasing the sensitive photos. In India the drones are easily available in the market especially in Delhi markets. The cost is also very affordable.

In India, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation allows a limited bandwidth of radio frequency for recreational flying by civilians, but has nothing in response to UAVs so far. "We don't have any regulations for drones right now, but are in the process of preparing some rules,” said Prabhat Kumar, the director general of the DGCA. “We are looking at regulations being developed in other countries for reference.” As of now, he said, we do not even have any specific restriction on how high UAVs can be flown.

Quidich - Company has used the drones to get information of election rallies during the election time in India by having tied up with a TV channel. People in big cities are using drones for hobby flying and children for fun. In big country like India drones can be used even for surveying farmlands, conserving wildlife and even for traffic monitoring around the cities regularly. Each year, $6.4 billion is being spent developing drone technology. Within three years nearly 70,000 jobs will created in the USA for drone related work and within 2025 nearly around 1,00,000 jobs are expected. Some universities are experimenting with drones how they can be utilized in education campuses for research, monitoring, teaching and learning etc. Some cities are banning the using of drones in the city limit by passing the resolution Eg. Charlottesville is home to the University of Virginia. In US alone the number of drones to be used will be 30,000 by 2020. Scientists are inventing drones that can make their own decisions. Good luck drones!!!
